SA L’Avenue Primary Hosts Thrilling Spelling Bee Competition

The ELAR department at Sampoerna Academy L’Avenue recently held an exciting Spelling Bee competition, bringing together students from Grades 3 to 5 in a spirited showcase of language skills. Participating classes included 3A, 3B, 4A, 4B, 4C, 5A, 5B, and 5C.

The first round took place in the ELAR classes, where all students participated in a pen-to-paper spelling challenge. From each class, the top ten spellers advanced to the semi-finals. In the semi-final round, students competed in an oral spelling format, where they were asked to spell words aloud. They were also allowed to ask for the word’s meaning, part of speech, or to hear it used in a sentence. The two best performers from each class moved forward to the grand final. The 16 finalists:

Held on Friday, 11 April in the MPH, the grand final welcomed 16 outstanding spellers — two from each class — with parents in attendance to cheer them on. The format was a traditional oral spelling round with eliminations: one mistake, and the student was out. The competition began with easier words, moved into medium difficulty, and finished with challenging vocabulary. It wasn’t easy to knock out these finalists, but after several intense rounds, the competition narrowed down to three students, and finally, ELRIC HAHOLONGAN LIM, Grade 5, became the winner of the Sampoerna Academy L’Avenue Campus Spelling Bee Competition 2025.
