When dawn arose, knowledge was exposed to the moonlight. With each new day, little hoots were heard as owlets revealed themselves, ready to show what they could do. This yearly competition brought together curious minds for a series of team challenges. Sampoerna Academy L’Avenue Grades 4 and 5 joined the event, called Owlypia, to test our students’ knowledge and teamwork.
In preparation, the students had studied the online curriculum and practised their debate and impromptu speech skills with their dedicated ELAR teachers during after-school lessons.
On February 1st, the IPMI Institute in Jakarta was buzzing! Participants gathered for the opening ceremony and prepared for the first challenge, aimed at the Owlings category—students aged 9 to 11 years. But before it began, the teams were introduced.
Team Superminds: Asthrith, Keisha, and Kenuth.
Golden State Madrid: Mikha, Andra, and Alifiandra.
The Hawks: Marvel, Gibran, and Gyurim.
The Little Einsteins: Kaidan, Abeeha, and Jericho.
The first event was the Impromptu Challenge, where teams had one minute to plan and give a short speech. After the break, it was the Speech-Craft Challenge, a debate where teams argued for or against a topic. The last activity of the day was the Knowledge Challenge, where students chose a subject and answered quiz questions.
On February 2nd, the event continued with the Team Spirit Challenge, followed by lunch and the final event, Hoo’s Got Talent, where students performed their talents.
Before the event ended, the top performers were announced.
🥇Gold medals went to: Abeeha, Jericho, Gyurim, and Andra.
🥈Silver was awarded to: Ashrith, Gibran, Mikha, Kenuth, and Marvel.
🥉Bronze was given to: Keisha, Kaidan, and Alifiandra.
The Owlypia was about more than just winning—it was about learning, growing, and working as a team.
